The dealer is letting me drive this used 2014 Subaru Outback while my Elantra is getting a new transmission. The sales manager told me that they were out of loaners, so he asked what I wanted, and I said a subaru. So far I like the car.

How is it compared to the average automatic? Also does it have any noise coming from the transmission (I've heard that cvts are loud). I'm wondering because my mom is curious about getting one, but she does not want the dealership to call all the time (our bank gives really good rates in October).

It's a little whiney, but overall feels like a normal auto box to me. It also has simulated shift points like an automatic.

So its not like their old CVT then. I guess I will schedule a test drive. My Subaru dealership is giving $25 amazon cards if you schedule test drives online.
